Kia Ora and welcome to Kōanga/Spring! Here at Rotorua Blue Lake TOP 10 the sun is shining, the Tūī’s are singing, deciduous trees are waking up and the spring flowers are starting to bloom!
The colour, warmth and light are giving us all Spring fever! We are convinced Spring is the best time to visit Rotorua so here are our TOP 5 reasons to spring into Rotorua Blue Lake TOP 10!
1. Escape the crowds
The Spring months typically bring less visitors meaning you can escape the crowds and enjoy the serenity our natural environment has to offer. You are guaranteed a prime picnic spot on the edge of our stunning Lake Tikitapu / Blue Lake and our local attractions have less wait times and queues.
2. Nature at its finest
Spring is the perfect time to observe our wildlife and waterfalls! Ducklings will adorn our lakes, our forest is alive with birdsong with the return of many migrating birds, and our local Agrodome Farm show will be welcoming lambs! After the winter rains our local waterfalls are at their finest, whether you want to walk, fish or raft the stunning Okere falls or visit our neighbours at the Buried Village to take in the wonder of the historic Te Wairoa falls, both are full of life and surrounded by gorgeous forest.
3. Beat the heat
The weather is warmer, but the scorching summer sun hasn’t set in which means it’s the perfect time to dust off the pedals and explore our mountain bike trails! As mentioned, there are less crowds so whether you explore the forest tracks or head up to Skyline’s bike park, you can beat the heat and the crowds!
4. Night Market
Warmer evenings are the perfect time to explore our local night market! With a range of foods, arts and crafts and entertainment it is sure to be a hit for the whole family! Hosted every Thursday on Tūtānekai Street from 5pm – 8.30pm.
